After the dawn of
Independence during 50’s Chirala & Perala the twin towns in the then
Guntur Dist had faced many odds, due to very poor economic status.
Chirala other wise known as Kshirapuri lacked essential amenities like
roads, lighting and shelter. Many people reside in this town are weavers
and fisher men who couldn’t make their both ends meet due to poverty,
illiteracy, un healthy state of conditions as they resided in huts. So
in order to bring out an all together different mode of living, this
organization was installed in 1961 with a patriotic motive of helping
the down trodden masses and the uneducated people who were in distress.
Especially the then Chirala & Perala small towns were inhabited with
many illiterate women, who earn their daily wages through small trades.
This institutions strived very hard in the upliftment of down trodden
women and aged persons and back ward masses who lived in slum areas of
chirala.
Mahila mandali is a non- governmental organization
based at chirla. A.P. and was established on 3rd February,
1961 and registered at District Registrar of Societies, Guntur under
Societies Registration Act of 1860.
Under the dynamic leadership of Smt. Jagarlamudi
Lakshmi Padmavathi, who was a national awardee.,and a recipient of many
encomiums and awards. She is the founder; President of the institute
and a patriotic person who is committed to serve her mother land. The
approach, she preferred is to serve the people in distress and to uplift
the downtrodden masses.
